The 67th National Film Awards were presented by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on October 25th in Delhi. The prestigious awards are organized by the Directorate of Film Festivals, which comes under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. This year’s National Film Awards will honour the Indian films from the year 2019.

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth was conferred with the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award, while Kangana Ranaut won her record 4th Best Actress award for Manikarnika and Panga. Veteran Manoj Bajpayee and South superstar Dhanush won Best Actor awards for their performances in Bhonsle and Asuran, respectively. Priyadarshan’s Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea won the Best Feature Film. The film is, however, yet to release in theatres, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Chhichhore filmmakers dedicated the award to the late Sushant Singh Rajput

Chhichhore director Nitesh Tiwari remembered the late Sushant Singh Rajput while receiving the award for his film and dedicated the award to the late actor.

. “Sushant is an integral part of our film. He made us proud. We are dedicating this award to him” said the film’s director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Sajid Nadiadwala at the red carpet.

Chhichhore was released in September 2019, which focuses on college friendships. Sushant was portrayed as a middle-aged man, who taught his son the importance of loving his life after his son attempted suicide.

Ironically, in June 2020, Sushant passed away due to an alleged suicide.
