A shocking incident has come to the fore from Karnataka’s Bagalkote where a man who was admitted to the Hangal Shree Kumareshwar Hospital and Research Centre had to undergo an operation in which the doctors ended up removing coins from the man’s body.

It is reported that the 58-year-old man had complaints of stomach ache and vomiting after which his relatives rushed him to the hospital. The Doctors in their examination carried out an X-ray scan after which they were taken aback by what they saw.

The man was identified as Dyamappa Harijan and was a resident of Lingsugur Town in Raichur region.

The doctors after finding out that the man had swallowed coins into his body due to which he was facing abdominal issues performed an endoscopy operation on the man and removed the 187 coins worth Rs 551 which weighed about 1.2 kgs.

The man was suffering from a mental health condition called schizophrenia which was the reason why he had been swallowing coins for the last three months. It took doctors two hours to perform the operation and remove the coins.

Hangal Shree Kumareshwar hospital’s Dr Eshwar Kalaburgi, who performed the surgery, while speaking to the press stated that the patient was suffering from a psychiatric disorder and had been swallowing coins for the last 2 to 3 months. The Dr added that the patient was admitted to the hospital after he complained of issues related to abdominal pain and vomiting.

Another incident

Another incident came to light from Karnataka’s Bengaluru where a doctor ran for 3km to reach the hospital after facing heavy traffic. The Gastroenterology surgeon doctor who works at the Manipal Hospital in Sarjapur ran to the hospital after facing traffic on the way. The doctor also garnered a lot of praise for his act.

Nationalist Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar on Monday was taken to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital following abdominal pain. The veteran leader will undergo surgery after the gallbladder issue was diagnosed, confirmed party leader Nawab Malik.

Malik tweeted, Our party president Sharad Pawar saheb was feeling a little uneasy due to a pain in his abdomen last evening and was therefore taken to Breach Candy Hospital for a check up. Upon diagnosis it came to light that he has a problem in his Gallbladder.

The 80-year-old politician was on blood thinning medication which has now been stopped due to this issue. He will be admitted to the hospital for endoscopy and surgery on March 31. All his scheduled programmes stand cancelled until further notice, Malik said in a tweet.

Trinamool Congress leader and MP Derek O’Brien has extended his wishes for a speedy recovery to the veteran leader. He wrote, Wishing the evergreen ‘Uncle’ @PawarSpeaks , who sits in the seat adjacent to me in the Rajya Sabha, a speedy and full recovery.

Recently, there were reports that Pawar met Union Minister Amit Shah at a top industrialist’s residence in Ahmedabad on Saturday. Shah refused to talk about the purported meeting at a press conference in New Delhi on Sunday. 

However, when enquired about such a meeting with Pawar, he had dismissed it saying  no such meeting took place, adding there is an attempt to create confusion by spreading such rumours.

Pawar also defended Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in corruption charges, ruling out the possibility of his resignation. A former Mumbai police officer Param Bir Singh alleged that Deshmukh had tasked Sachin Vaze, an accused in the Ambani Bomb scare case, to collect Rs 100 crore from hotels and pubs on a monthly basis.
