Dunki, Shah Rukh Khan’s third Bollywood film of 2023, continues to make money even on the third Friday. On day 16, the Rajkumar Hirani Film is estimated to earn Rs 2.20 crore net in India. After opening with Rs 29.2 crore net in India on December 21, a Thursday, Dunki saw an immediate dip on the following day.

On the first Friday, the film earned Rs 20.12 crore. However the film saw an upward trend on Saturday and Sunday, earning Rs 25.61crore and 30.7crore respectively. Dunki has been produced by Jio Studios, Red Chillies Entertainment and Rajkumar Hirani films, earned Rs 160.22 crore in the first week.

On the second Sunday, Shah Rukh Khan Film earned Rs11.5 crore. Otherwise, it earned in single digits on all other days in India. With a net box office collection of Rs 46.25 crore in the second week, the film’s total net earnings so far in India stand at Rs 208.67 crore.

The gross India collection of the film, which also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani, is 247.75 crore. According to reports overseas collection of 164 crore, the film has already touched Rs 411.75 crore.

Red Chillies Entertainment took to X(formerly Twitter) and wrote Dunki has already earned Rs 422.9 crore worldwide. Along the poster Red Chillies Entertainment tweeted these are fireworks of your love…making noise at the box office! The text on the poster read a global celebration of entertainment.

Dunki revolves around the story of four friends Manu, Sukhi, Buggu and Balli, who dream of settling down in London for a better life, but have to undertake an arduous yet life changing journey to reach their goal. Speaking to the media Rajkumar Hirani said it is an Indian story which in Hindi Cinema no one thought about. He said he was happy with the response. He said sometimes it will be massive, sometimes it will be different.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki, after its opening on December 21(Thursday), made Rs 29.2 crore nett in India. However the film witnessed a dip on its second day, Friday, garnering Rs 20.12 crore nett, marking a decrease of 31.1%. During the weekend, Dunki saw an upswing on Saturday with collections bouncing back to Rs 25.61 crore nett, a substantial 27.29% increase from the previous day.

Continuing this positive trajectory, Sunday’s figures swelled to 30.7 crore net, reflecting a hearty 19.88% rise, indicative of the film’s growing appeal. Monday’s numbers displayed a collection of Rs 22.5 crore nett. The total net collection in India, as it stands after five days of its release is estimated to be Rs 128.13 crore.

According to reports the total worldwide collection for Dunki after 4 days is Rs 211.13 crore. At the present moment the film is expected to cross Rs 250 crore after 5 days. The film has entered the top-grossers club of Bollywood in 2023. If Dunki manages to make Rs 250 crore after Monday’s numbers, it will beat OMG 2 (Rs 221.75 crore) and Tu Jhoothi main Makkaar (Rs 223 crore) to become the 8^th biggest film of the year. Then its next target will be the Kerala Story (Rs 302 crore).

Dunki was released on December 21, Prabhas film Salaar: Cease Fire –Part 1 was released the following day. Salaar has managed to make an impressive mark as it earned nearly Rs 255 crore in the domestic market in just 4 days. The film has made Rs 325 crore worldwide within 3 days of its release.

Dunki is a comedy drama film released in cinemas on December 21, 2023. The film tells the story of an illegal migration technique called Donkey flight. The film has been directed by Raju Hirani and has been produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, Jio studios and Rajkumar Hirani Films.

The Dunki makers unvieled Dunki Drop 6 just three days ahead of the film’s release. Dunki Drop 6 features a song, titled Banda, which captures the essence of Hardy’s (Shah Rukh Khan in the film) character. From a lover to patriot, from a friend to a rescuer- the malti faceted Hardy can risk his life for his friends.

The video begins with Taapsee Pannu’s (Mannu) voiceover which says Hardy can make people reach London. He can be seen running on tracks, he can be seen speaking English in the class as well. The shots of the Banda song are taken from other songs of the film like Lutt Putt Gaya, Nikle The Hum Kabhio Ghar Se and O Maahi. The video ends  with Hardy’s powerful dialogues.

He can be heard saying Nehi, judge saab Mujhey mere desh se koi khatra nhi hai. Mera desh jaisa hai, mera hai. Mein yahaan rehney ke liye apney desh ko gaali nahi dunga. The Banda song has been sung by Diljit Dosanjh and the music has been composed by Pritam. Kumar has written the lyrics of the song. Shah Rukh Khan praised the Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh.

Many stars including Vicky Kaushal are currently under the scanner of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) as it investigating a video shared by Karan Johar last year. The video went viral and it was being claimed on social media that the stars were under influence of drugs. In an interview later, Vicky revealed that he was surprised to see such reactions from people on social media. He said it started as a joke and escalated into a huge controversy later. Vicky asked if drugs were being consumed at the party, why would someone like Karan Johar share it on social media and invite trouble?

The film is yet to be titled and will be part of the YRF project 50 celebrations. According to reports, it will be helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya.
