A major road accident has taken place in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh on Thursday morning, where an uncontrolled bus overturned on the Agra-Lucknow expressway, in which many people have been severely injured. A bus full of labourers was going from Shravasti to Gujarat, in which 30 among 80 labourers were seriously injured. The injured labourers have been admitted to the Saifai University of Medical Sciences. The police reached the spot once they received the information about the incident.

According to Police, the incident took place at around 5:30 am near channel number 113 of the expressway when the bus driver fell asleep, which caused the speeding bus to loose its control thereby overturning on the road itself. Police further added, 30 injured labourers were sent to hospital, and arrangements were made to send labourers who have suffered minor injuries to their destination after treatment.

The accident took place near the milestone 113 kilometres on the Agra-Lucknow expressway under the police station Chaubia area of Etawah district. The local police have shown their preparedness and responded soon as they received the information about the accident. CO Saifai Nagendra Choubey, Inspector-in-charge Saifai Mohammad Kamil and Inspector-in-charge Chaubia Manzoor Ahmed, and the team of UPDA reached the spot. They immediately took the decision to send the injured passengers to the hospital and cleared the road. Later, the damaged bus was removed from the spot with the help of a crane machine.

A similar incident took place earlier, in which three passengers were killed while 18 others were injured as a Sultanpur-bound bus fell off the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. The bus carrying 30 passengers was coming from Anand Vihar in Delhi. Four of the passengers were seriously injured in the accident. After the incident, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolence to the deceased family members but there is no official statement from the Uttar Pradesh CMO in the recent bus accident on the Agra-Lucknow expressway so far.

They added they faced great difficulty in pulling out the bodies since the impact of the accident left the bus severely mangled.

Rakesh Pandey, the incharge of UP’s Karhal police station, said, “The accident took place on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway while the bus, en route to Varanasi from New Delhi, tried to overtake and collided head-on with the truck coming from the opposite direction.”

The cop said that the bus driver was killed in the accident. He added that those injured in the accident were shifted to a hospital in UP’s Saifai.
