Expressing unhappiness over All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS) forensic panel’s report ruling out murder in Sushant Singh Rajput case, the actor’s family lawyer Vikas Singh said he would urge Central Bureau of Investigation’s chief to form a new panel for providing medico-legal opinion in the case. While questioning the panel, he asked as to how it was able to provide a conclusive opinion on the matter in the absence of the actor’s body.

Earlier on Saturday, the medical board constituted by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had ruled out murder theories doing rounds and had said that it was a clear case of suicide. The panel had said that it did not find any trace of drug or poison in the viscera. The medical board added that there was no mark of struggle or injury other than that of hanging on Sushant’s body. The ligature mark on the neck in question was consistent with the hanging.

The 34-year-old Bollywood actor, who made his debut with critically acclaimed ‘Kai Po Che’, was found dead in his apartment in suburban Bandra on June 14. Mumbai police had termed the case as ‘suicide’ after the initial investigation. However, the murder theories started cropping up later following which the investigation was handed over to CBI.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Police has reacted to the AIIMS panel’s report and said what it had always known had been reaffirmed. In conversation with NDTV, Mumbai police chief Param Vir Singh said that they always knew what the reality was. He added that the Mumbai police worked with full integrity and was never tense about its investigation into the matter.

When asked as to why Mumbai police had missed out on abetment to suicide angle in the case, Singh said that the investigation was ongoing, but the case was handed over to the central investigation agency before the police could probe all angles.
