Akshay Kumar on Sunday posted a letter sent to him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, mourning the demise of his mother Aruna Bhatia. Kumar said he was touched by PM Modi’s gesture and his comforting words will stay with him forever.

Sharing the letter on social media, Kumar wrote: Humbled by condolence messages on mom’s passing, thankful to all. Grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this amazing gesture to take out time and express warm feelings for me and my late parents. These comforting words will stay with me forever. Jai Ambe!

Akshay Kumar wrote in a tweet addressed to PM Modi. The 54-year-old actor also attached the letter he received from the Prime Minister, an excerpt from which reads: “Preserve her memories and legacy, and keep making her proud. In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with you and your family.”

Akshay Kumar’s mother passed away on September 8 in Mumbai’s Hiranandani Hospital. The actor informed about his mother with a post on social media.

Informing of his mother’s passing, Kumar wrote: She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti.

However, on his birthday on September 9, Akki remembered his mother and wrote a heart-warming message saying would have never liked it this way but am sure mom is singing Happy Birthday to me from right up there! Thanks to each one of you for your condolences and wishes alike. Life goes on.

In the letter, the Prime Minister wrote that it was heartening that Bhatia could witness her son’s stardom and lauded the actor for the manner in which he looked after her, calling it deeply inspiring. Aruna Bhatia was admitted to the hospital on Monday. The actor was shooting for his upcoming film Mission Cinderella in the UK and had to rush back. On Tuesday he had shared an update about his mother’s health and also thanked his well-wishers for their prayers. Touched beyond words at your concern for my mom’s health. This is a very tough hour for me and my family. Every single prayer of yours would greatly help, Akshay wrote.

However, the actor shared a strong bond with his mother.

Akshay Kumar had recently shared that he has gained around five kilos after shedding around six kilos to don the avatar of the stylish cop in Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi. The actor had said that the best part of his characters demanding him to gain weight is that he gets to relish the delicious Halwa cooked by his mother.

Bhatia has been facing health concerns for some time now. In an Instagram post he made in 2019, Kumar was seen strolling with her on the streets of London as she used a wheelchair to move around. No matter how busy you are with life and growing up, don’t forget they are also growing old…so spend time with them while you still can, he wrote.

The actor shared the news of his mother’s demise and penned an emotional note on Twitter. “She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti”, he tweeted.

Akshay Kumar, who was shooting for his film Cinderella in London, flew back to Mumbai on Monday after his mother got admitted to ICU. The next day, he took to Twitter and expressed his gratitude to his fans and friends for praying for his mother’s health.

Taking it to Twitter, he expressed, “Touched beyond words at your concern for my mom’s health. This is a very tough hour for me and my family. Every single prayer of yours would greatly help.”

Like every child, Akshay is also closely attached to his mother. On Mother’s Day, the actor had shared a special post. He posted a happy picture and had written, “Maa warga koi nahi #MothersDay (There’s no one like mom).”

For those who don’t know, Aruna Bhatia was a co-partner at Hari Om Productions. She had produced several films of Akshay Kumar including Rustom, Patiala House, Singh Is King, Airlift, Mission Mangal, and others.
