According to the Hindu calendar, Amavasya Tithi falls in each month, which is known by different names. Also, they have special importance. Amavasya falling in the month of Bhadrapada is called Pithori Amavasya. This year, Pithori Amavasya will be celebrated on Monday, August 27, 2022. On this Amavasya, Kush is used in religious works like Pitra Tarpan etc. Hence, it is also called Kush Amavasya.

Pithori Amavasya is also known as Bhadrapada Amavasya, Badi Amavasya, and Bhado Amavasya.

Pithori Amavasya 2022: Puja Vidhi

On the day of Pithori Amavasya, get up early in the morning at Brahmamuhurta. Brahmamuhurta is the morning period, which starts from 3:30 am to 5:30 am. On this day, take bath by mixing Ganges water with the normal bath water. After taking bath, light the oil lamp (Diya) in the temple of your house. Then, offer arghya to the sun god, and make offerings and donate for the ancestors. Do charity with the worship of Lord Vishnu and Mahadev, according to the Pithori Amavasya 2022 puja vidhi.

Pithori Amavasya 2022: Significance

According to the beliefs, by observing the fast of Pithori Amavasya, the women who are not able to conceive a child and suffer infertility may get the blessings for getting a child. Women who observe this fast are blessed with long life and good health for their children.

On this day, idols of 64 goddesses including Maa Durga are made from flour and women worship goddesses made of flour and observe a fast.
