Mahindra group chairman Anand Mahindra on Saturday praised India’s vaccination drive on his official Twitter handle. He Tweeted that India has created a world record by giving over 2.50 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses in just one day.

While sharing the screengrab of coWin portal, Mahindra said, earlier, India was vaccinating the equivalent of one Australia every two-three days. Now, on September 17, India has vaccinated equivalent Australia in a single day. Mahindra also said that if there was an Olympics on vaccines then India would be on top of the podium with a gold medal.

According to the CoWIN data on September 17 at 11:55 pm, India had administered almost 2.49 crore Covid-19 vaccines.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said India has won the title of the world’s fastest vaccine drive by giving 466 to 500 doses per second on Friday. 28,000 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been given on September 17 every minute, he added.

With this, India broke China’s single-day highest vaccinating record by jabbing 2.47 crore people. Meanwhile, Karnataka has become one of the top states that administering 26.92 lakh doses on Saturday at 9 PM.

PM Modi on his birthday thanked, dedicated the success of the vaccination drive to all the doctors, innovators, administrators, nurses, healthcare and all front-line workers. He said with the help of front-line workers the drive become possible in the country. Let us keep boosting vaccination to defeat COVID-19, PM Modi tweeted.

Meanwhile, the country witnessing a spike in Covid cases by three percent. The country on Saturday has witnessed almost 35,662 fresh cases with 281 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours.

According to the Health Ministry data on Friday, Kerala has reported 23,260 fresh cases with 131 deaths. Currently, almost 5,37,823 persons are under observation in the state while 26,363 people are in isolation wards.
