Ahead of the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled its state executive member Anu Thakur from the party for six years with immediate effect.

Bharatiya Janata Party’s state president and MP Suresh Kashyap said on Friday that the party has cancelled the primary membership of Thakur for six years for indulging in anti-party activities.

Earlier this month, the saffron party expelled five rebel party leaders, including, four former party MLAs and a former state vice president, from the party’s primary membership for six years for independently contesting against authorized candidates. Kashyap said the expulsion order would take effect immediately.

The expelled BJP leaders are State Vice President and former Rajya Sabha MP Kripal Parmar, former Kinnaur MLA KL Thakur, former Nalagarh MLA KL Thakur, former Indora legislator Manohar Dhiman, Kullu leader Ram Singh, and incumbent Aani MLA Kishori Lal.

Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022

This time, the BJP is bringing 21 fresh faces as candidates in the elections scheduled for November 12. Five doctors and one retired IAS officer are among the party’s nominees. The entry of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the 2022 Himachal Pradesh Assembly election made it a three-cornered contest.

Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022 will be held in a single phase. Polling of votes will take place on November 12. The counting of votes will be done on December 8, along with Gujarat.

The BJP won 44 out of 68 seats in the 2017 Himachal Pradesh assembly election and formed the government. Congress was ousted from power and was able to gain only 21 assembly seats. In addition to these two parties, the CPI(M) was able to secure one seat, and two independent candidates won two Vidhan Sabha seats.
