On the occassion of Army Day on Friday, January 15, the Army chief Manoj Mukund Naravane gave a stern message to China saying no one should test India’s patience even though it is committed to resolve the border standoff through talks and political efforts. He said the sacrifice of Galwan Valley Martyrs won’t go waste.

In an address at the Army Day parade, General Naravane said a befitting response was given to the conspiracy to make unilateral changes on the border.

Naravane said Indian Army will not allow any harm to the country’s sovereignty and security. He said eight round of military talks were held between India and China to bring bring the border escalations under control. India’s effort will continue to find an amicable solution to the current situation on the basis of mutual and equal security, he said.

Indian and Chinese soldiers have been engaged in a military stand-off in eastern Ladakh since May last year and the tensions escalated in June when 20 Indian soldiers martyred in the line of duty during the violent face-off in the Galwan Valley. The unfortunate event marked the most serious military conflicts between the two sides in decades. Chinese side has not disclosed the number of casualties occurred during the standoff, however, an American intelligence report said the number of casualties on the Chinese side was 35.

Referring to cross-border terrorism from Pakistan, Naravane said the neighbouring country continues to provide a safe haven to terrorists. He said strong response is being given to the enemy on the other border. Pakistan continues to provide safe haven to terrorists. In the training camps, across the LoC (Line of Control), around 300-400 terrorists are ready to infiltrate.
