Former Pakistan pacer Aaquib Javed has expressed his opinion on team India pacer Arshdeep Singh, who has been part of India’s 18-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.

The former Pakistani pacer called Arshdeep an ordinary bowler and said he doesn’t have a trademark that all the great bowlers have. Pakistan doesn’t even think about bowlers like Arshdeep Singh, Javed said.

Talking to Pak tv, Javed said Bumrah just darts in the yorkers with perfection while Hardik Pandya’s bouncers are quite lethal. Shaheen has a great swing and Haris has a great pace. So, Arshdeep is.. just like any other bowler.

He doesn’t really have a trademark. The opposition doesn’t even think about bowlers like him, he told Pak tv.

Arshdeep Singh made his India debut in July 2022 on India’s tour of England. So far, the pacer played 11 T20I matches and claimed 14 wickets at an economy of 7.38. His best T20I figures are 3 for 12.

The Central government on Monday summoned Wikipedia executives to seek explanation on how team India pacer Arshdeep Singh’s Wikipedia page entry showing pacer’s alleged links with Khalistani movement.

Key details in his Wikipedia page changed to term him as Khalistani. However, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology believes that it could cause disharmony in India and could also led the cricketer’s family into trouble.

The Wikipedia edited entry about Arshdeep Singh, who had dropped catch on the third ball of Ravi Bishnoi’s 18th over, was changed after India’s five-wicket loss to Pakistan in Asia Cup on Sunday.

The 23-year-old Punjab Kings pacer received flak from the cricket fans on social media for dropping Asif Ali’s catch in the 18th over of the Super 4 clash against Pakistan. He was brutally trolled by a section of social media users for the mistake he committed in a pressure situation.

An anonymous user replaced the words India with Khalistan at several locations on the profile minutes after India were beaten by Pakistan. Also, the name of the cricketer was changed twice while several changes were made to his cricket stats.

However, these changes were undone within 15 minutes by Wikipedia editors.

Criticising the way Arshdeep has been trolled for the dropped catch, Punjab Education Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said regressive psyche to troll him for dropping just a catch.

After Punjab Kings’ thrilling 12-run win over Mumbai Indians, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar on Thursday showered praise at Punjab’s uncapped pacer and rated him above Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Speaking with ESPNcricinfo, Manjrekar said that the left-arm pacer’s impact with the ball went rather unnoticed. The time has come for India to give him a chance ahead of Bhuvneshwar in the Indian T20 set-up, he said.
