Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi was addressing a rally in Assam’s Dhubri on Wednesday where she said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not stop JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna from leaving India. She said PM Modi is far away from the reality of common people and has no understanding of their miseries as he has become egoistic.

This was not the first time that Priyanka Gandhi attacked PM Modi over the sex scandal. Earlier this week, she questioned PM Modi’s silence over the matter. Gandhi said Prajwal Revanna who stood along with PM Modi, for whom the prime minister asked for votes, has been accused of abusing thousands of women.  She added the numbers are staggering and asked Modi’s response over the matter. Gandhi said she was keen to hear what the Union home minister had to say on the matter.

Priyanka Gandhi recollected that a few days earlier she had travelled abroad to visit her daughter. She said the Prime Minister and Home Minister are constantly discussing her overseas trips. She said they are well aware about when she is going to travel and are even keeping track of opposition leaders’ travels. Yet, when an accused, someone like him Prajwal Revanna, leaves the country, they claim ignorance. How can anyone accept this? She said the matter has slipped away right under their noses after committing such a grave offence, and yet they remain silent.

The Congress leader also alleged there was a mafia raj in BJP-ruled Assam. She also attacked Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. She said there have been very serious charges against Himanta Biswa Sarma when he was in the Congress party. As soon as he changed sides to BJP, all charges against him were dropped. Gandhi further added the BJP has developed a washing machine where corrupt people are put and the Assam CM was the first one in this regard.

On the occasion of Ram Navami on Wednesday, the sun’s rays dropped in the form of a Surya Tilak on the forehead of Ram Lalla at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. PM Modi, who was in Assam for a campaign, chanted Jai Shri Ram during the rally and shared visuals of him watching Surya Tilak. He also urged the crowd, present at his rally, to turn on their mobile flash lights to celebrate this auspicious occasion.

Taking to social media X, formerly Twitter, PM Modi shared two images of him watching the Surya Tilak and said, after his Nalbari rally, he watched the Surya Tilak on Ram Lalla. He said, like crores of Indians, this is a very emotional moment for him. He also prayed for the nation, saying, “May this Surya Tilak bring energy to our lives and may it inspire our nation to scale new heights of glory.”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said Congress will never implement CAA in Assam if his party voted to power. Gandhi made the statement while addressing his first public rally in Assam ahead of the assembly elections due in March-April.

Gandhi criticised Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and RSS for of dividing the Assam. Gandhi said his party will protect every principle of the Assam Accord. Gandhi further said the state needs its own chief minister who will listen to the voice of the common people in the state. He said people don’t need a CM who will only listen to Nagpur and Delhi.

During the rally, Gandhi said illegal immigration is an issue in Assam and people of the state have the capability to resolve the issue through talks. He further alleged that BJP and RSS are attempting to divide the state on the issue of Assam Accord.

Gandhi said if Assam is divided, then Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Union Home Minister Amit Shah will not be affected by it, but the people of Assam and the rest of India will be affected from it.

Gandhi said the Assam Accord has brought peace and it is the protector of the state. He said he will protect each principle of the Accord with the help of his party workers.

While adressing the rally Gandhi said a remote control can operate a TV not a CM in the state. He said the current CM in the state only listens to Nagpur and Delhi. If Assam gets a CM like this again, it will not benefit the people, Gandhi said. The youth needs a CM who will give jobs to them, he added.
