Weeks before the first phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday announced his poll alliance with Babu Singh Kushwaha’s Jan Adhikar Party and the Bharat Mukti Morcha.

Announcing poll alliance, he also given the formula of two chief ministers and three deputy chief ministers.

Addressing a press conference, the Hyderabad MP said that if the alliance comes to power there will be 2 CMs, 1 from the OBC community another from the Dalit community and three Deputy CMs from the Muslim community. His first aim is to ensure BJP doesn’t come back to power and that they want a person who does not discriminate between caste and religion, Owaisi said.

Earlier, Owaisi had announced an alliance with the Om Prakash Rajbhar‘s  Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party. However, Rajbhar broke the alliance and joined hands with Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party.

So far, the AIMIM has declared 25 candidates and it will be contesting around 80 seats.

The arrival of AIMIM in Uttar Pradesh is a cause of concern for the BJP’s rival Samajwadi Party which has been the beneficiary of the Muslim votes.

In 2007, Muslims voted largely for the BSP, the community was with the Samajwadi Party in 2012 but the votes got divided between the SP, Congress and the BSP in 2017.

Uttar Pradesh will begin voting from February 10 in 7 seven phases and the counting of votes will take place on March 10.
