Bajrang Muni Das, whose videos went viral as he gave rape threats to Muslim women in Sitapur, has now been arrested. RP Singh, Sitapur’s superintendent of police said that the seer will soon be presented in the court. His arrest came at a time when several people are coming forward to give hate speeches against a particular religion.

A senior police official also said that Raja Singh was accused of giving speeches and singing songs that were provocative in nature and creating hatred and enmity between religious communities. He was booked under sections 153A (promoting enmity among people on grounds of religion), 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 504 (intentionally insults, and thereby gives provocation to any person, intending or knowing it to be likely that such provocation will cause him to break the public peace), and 505 (Statements conducing to public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Shahinayathgunj police station, the official said.

Moreover, Bajrang Muni Das’s video went viral in which he was heard using the term jehadi to refer to a community and threatening them if any Hindu girl is harassed by any man of that community, he would himself rape their women.

Recently, several people made outrageous hate speech including the one in Haridwar, where calls were made to take up arms against Muslims and to commit genocide were issued.

After another video of a priest Bajrang Muni Das issuing rape threats to Muslim women went viral on social media, senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that these thugs do not represent Hinduism any more than an extremist of the Islamic State represents Islam.

In his tweet, Tharoor insisted that the vast majority of Hindus reject and disown such elements who speak only for themselves and not for us or for Hindus anywhere.

A video of Mahant Bajrang Muni Das, the head priest of an ashram in Uttar Pradesh’s Khairabad town, issuing rape threats to Muslim women is doing rounds on social media. Adressing crowd in police presence, the priest can be seen making indecent remarks for Muslim women in the video. He can also be seen provoking people to rape Muslim women and daughters.

In the video, Mahant threatened Muslim families to abduct their women and girls, and rape them if their men harass any Hindu girl. In the police presence, he also dared the administration to stop him from committing the crime. Later, the women and children around him clapped as the Mahant issued the rape threat.

APN News could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.

Taking action on the video, the police have registered an FIR after against the priest. Arrest Bajrang Muni is trending on Twitter a day after Mahant’s rape threat video went viral on social media.

Later Mahant Bajrang Muni apologized for his statement. In his apology video, the Mahant said if any of his words have hurt a particular community, then he apologize to all the Muslim mothers and sisters.

Taking cognizance of the issue, the National Commission for Women reacted on the incident calling for the arrest of Mahant Bajrang Muni Das.

In a statement the NCW said that women’s panel has also written seeking appropriate measures from police to curb people from using such outrageous language for women and not be a mute spectator in such incidents. The commission is receiving such complaints “again and again” but “it seems cases aren’t decreasing, the panel chief Rekha Sharma said.
