The recent gang rape and death of a 20-year-old Dalit girl in Bihar’s Vaishali has shocked the nation yet again. The victim who was found dead on December 28 was allegedly gang-raped by upper caste men for five consecutive days.

The accused have been identified as Anurag Kumar, Anshu Kumar, Manoj Chaudhary, and Rakesh Kumar.

The 20-year-old was reportedly abducted on December 20. Hearing her plead while the goons were committing the crime, passerby tried to rescue her. However, they were threatened by the accused who asked them not to interfere in the matter. As per a report in a leading Hindi daily, the victim’s mother went to the Panchayat who advised her to file an FIR.

Later, the victim’s dead body was found in a canal. The heinous incident has sparked social media outrage and people are demanding justice for the Vaishali girl. One user wrote that rape cases need to be stopped and rapists need to be hanged. Another user wrote that how parents would give freedom to their daughters if such crime continues in society.

In August this year, a similar rape incident took place in Delhi wherein a nine-year-old girl was raped and killed by a priest and three staff of a crematorium. Reportedly, the accused were arrested after the girl’s family staged a protest along with other villagers and demanded justice.
