Actor Anupam Kher, on Thursday, confirmed that his wife-actor-BJP MP Kirron Kher has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. The veteran actor called Kher a fighter and said she is on her path to recovery.

Anupam Kher released a statement on his social media handle informing fans that that the 68-year-old actor is currently undergoing treatment in Mumbai.

He wrote that Kirron has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. She is currently undergoing treatment and her family is sure she will come out of this stronger than before. The family is very blessed that she is being looked after by a phenomenal set of doctors. She’s always been a fighter and takes things head on. She’s all heart and that’s why she has so many people that love her. He asked her fans to keep sending their love and prayers to her. She is well on her way to recovery. He thanked everyone for their support and love.

Kirron Kher’s son-actor Sikander Kher too shared the same note on Instagram.

Prayers poured in for Kirron Kher from various sections, with actors Suniel Shetty, Juhi Chawla, Tilotama Shome, Maniesh Paul, Karanvir Bohra, Ridhima Pandit and Parineeti Chopra sending their best wishes.

The family’s statement comes a day after Chandigarh BJP chief Arun Sood shared Kirron Kher’s diagnosis. Speaking at a press conference, Soon said Kher is suffering from multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells which produce antibodies to fight infections. She is recovering well from the disease which was detected last year.

Kirron Kher entered politics in the year 2014 when she joined BJP. She was last seen as one of the judges on the TV reality show India’s Got Talent, alongside Karan Johar and Malaika Arora. Kher is known for her work in films such as Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, Dostana, Hum Tum and many more.
