In a bid to break the impasse over the ongoing farmers protest, the government has sent a fresh invite for talks. Government has asked the protesting farmer groups to choose a date of their convenience for the dialogue over the three farm laws. Reacting to the fresh invite, the farmers unions have said that the invite is nothing but an eyewash and that the Centre is trying to create the impression that farmers are not interested in talks. Centre’s invite comes ahead of prime minister Narendra Modi’s interaction with farmers at a money transfer event.

The farmers protest against the three farm legislations passed by the Parliament in the monsoon session have entered the 30th days today. Multiple rounds of talks have failed between the two parties with both form on their stand. While the farmers want withdrawal of new farm laws, government continues to maintain that the laws are for their benefits, and it is ready to amend them. The farmer unions will be holding a press conference later in the day to decide their further course of action.

The protests continue to result in great inconvenience for the commuters. Delhi Traffic Police has issued a fresh advisory asking the commuters to take alternate routes for coming to Delhi via Anand Vihar, DND, Apsara, Bhopra and Loni borders as Chilla and Gazipur borders will be closed for traffic coming from Noida and Ghaziabad.

Meanwhile, the opposition is leaving no stones unturned to target the Centre over the contentious farm laws. Earlier on Thursday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led a protest march to Rashtrapati Bhavan. Hitting out at the Centre, Gandhi said there is no democracy in India. He said only three-four people are runnig this country and that the congress was trying to stop this.
