At least nine people including a child and 4 women were killed after a head-on collision of a car and a truck on the Mumbai-Goa highway in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra during the wee hours of Thursday.

The accident was so fierce that the bodies of the vehicles were shattered into pieces. It was very difficult to pull out the bodies from the vehicle owing to the damage. The police and other officials took out the bodies by dismantling the vehicles using an iron cutter.

A car and a truck collided head-on on the Mumbai-Goa highway on Thursday morning. A child was injured in the accident. At the same time nine people including 4 women died. According to the police, the accident happened on the highway near Mangaon at around 5 am. Police said that when the truck was going towards Mumbai, the car was heading towards Guhagar in Ratnagiri district. During that time this accident happened.

The deceased include five men and 4 women. Police said that a child injured in the accident has been admitted to the hospital. Police also said that now traffic has been restored on the highway and the incident is being investigated. The dead bodies have been taken to Mangaon Upazila Hospital. Police and rescue teams were on the spot.

Notably, due to this accident in the early morning, the traffic on the Mumbai-Goa highway was stopped for some time. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the police inspected the spot and made the traffic smooth. Along with this, it is also being investigated that where were the people who died in the accident. At the same time, a terrible accident also happened in Kankavali of Sindhudurg district. Four people were killed and 21 were injured when the bus overturned.
