A story has come to light from Tamil Nadu’s Erode district where 6 students were made to clean the government school toilet by the school authorities. The video of the young students went viral where they can be seen cleaning the toilets inside the school premises.

According to reports, one of the parent of the student learned about the the incident after her child contracted dengue. The mother asked her son where he had been going to trace back his contraction of dengue, to which the child replied that it must have been when the he was carrying out the toilet cleaning duty.

After learning about her child’s account, the mother filled a case against the principal of the government school, Geeta Rani. The school’s principal is reportedly absconding. The reports also claim that the principal had separated only the students belonging to the Schedule castes for the cleaning duty of the toilet.

In the video, 2 students can be seen cleaning the school’s toilet with a broom as one boy meticulously carries out their job. Another student also rushes in to help as they takes care of the cobweb stuck on the ceiling by using a broom stick.

Police action

According to reports, the Tamil Nadu police are further probing into the incident and charged the principal of the school with Juvenile Justice Act and have also invoked the SCST (Prevention of Atrocities) act.

Another incident of a similar nature came to light from Tamil Nadu;s Thanjavur district where a barber shop owner refused to give haircut services to the SCST people. The reports also suggest that the barber, after refusign to give haircuts to the people belonging to the SCST community, was arrested by the police and charged with SCST (Prevention of Atrocities) act.

There are stories on the internet every day that gives us an accurate picture of the Indian education system and government schools in India.

One more video of a government school in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district is doing rounds on social media.

In this shocking video, the primary students can be seen cleaning the toilet in the presence of the school principal. In another video clip of the same incident, the principal can be heard telling the students that he will lock the toilet if it’s not cleaned properly, and then the students will have to go home for defecation.

After taking cognizance of the situation, block education officer Lokesh Mishra was ordered to investigate, following which school principal Mrityunjay Singh was suspended. However, the principal has been suspended after a video went viral on social media.

The video is from the primary school at Pipra Kala in the Sohavn area. The man’s identity is yet to be identified.

Basic Education Officer Maniram Singh had ordered a probe into the case and sought a report from the Sohavn block education officer, a day after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

Necessary action against those responsible would be taken once the report is submitted, Singh said.

The Indian government is working round the clock to bring the Indians stranded in Ukraine. Amid this, a video has gone viral on Twitter, where an Indian returnee has claimed that the Indian embassy asked students to clean toilets if they want to board flights for home. Nearly 1,000 students were waiting to board flights desperately but they were given a choice to clean toilets first to board first.

Earlier, a similar video got viral when an Indian returnee, identified as Congress leader’s daughter Vishakha Yadav slammed the ruling party for its failed Operation Ganga plan. The girl in a video said the government’s duty is to bring the students safely from the war-torn region and evacuating students from a safe neighbouring country does not consider an evacuation.

Vishakha took a dig at the Indian government said that Operation Ganga can not be called evacuation because students are being evacuated from neighbouring countries, not from inside Ukraine. She stated that evacuation is said to be done when people are lifted from the actual battlefield, which is not the case. Neither the government nor the Indian embassy provided food, shelter to the stranded Indians, she added.

Currently, 1,000 students are still stuck in Ukraine’s war zones, said the Ministry of External Affairs. India is primarily focusing on evacuating its nationals from the conflict zones of Kharkiv and Sumy in eastern Ukraine, the MEA said.
