The untimely death of popular comedian Raju Srivastava at the age of 58 has left the nation with teary eyes. The comedian who won millions of hearts with his outstanding perfomances took his last breath at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Many big leaders such as PM Narendra Modi, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, home minister Amit Shah, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, and transport minister Nitin Gadkari among others shared condolence messages over social media platforms.

PM Modi tweeted that Srivastava has brightened up the lives of many with his laughter, humour and positivity. He leaves the world too soon but he will continue to live in the hearts of countless people forever. He also thanked him for his rich work over the years. His demise is saddening. Condolences to his family and admirers, PM added in his Tweet.

While sharing the grief message on the sudden demise of a stand-up comedian, Delhi CM tweeted in Hindi that reads it is very sad to hear about the demise of famous comedian Raju Srivastava ji. May God give place to the departed soul at his feet, condolences to his family and all his fans in this time of sorrow, Kejriwal added in his tweet.

UP CM also shared his grief message while talking with the media. He said that the comedian was a great human being and has always entertained everyone without any discrimination.

The report said that the comedian was witnessing a lot of health complications over the past few days due to which he was admitted to the AIIMS. Report also revealed that he was on a ventilator for over a month.

Earlier it was reported that Srivastava was gaining consciousness and showing sign of health improvement.

Raju was born on December 25, 1963. He rose to fame with the comedy show Great Indian Laughter Challenge through his iconic stage character Gajodhar.

Renowned Comedian, Raju Srivastava, who was admitted to Delhi’s AIIMS after suffering a cardiac arrest while running on a treadmill in his gym, passes away on September 21st. The comedian had been struggling to get better after facing a cardiac arrest on August 10. Reports about his health condition improving had come surfaced recently but as fate would have it, the comedian has departed from the world, however, his legacy will live on.

Comedian and friend of Raju Srivastava, Sunil Pal, had previously informed about Raju’s health deteriorating and getting critical as his brain stopped functioning. He also urged his fans to pray for Raju’s good health as the matter was out of Doctor’s hands. He added that the comedian continues to be on ventilator support.

Popular as Gajodhar, Raju Srivastava was one of the most accomplished comedians in India. He gained wide recognition from the talent show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge where he ended up as the second runner-up. He then participated in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge-Champions and won the title of The King of Comedy.

In 2010, he triggered controversy after he received threatening calls from Pakistan for cracking jokes on underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and Pakistan.

The comedian started his career with cameo roles in Bollywood films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Baazigar, Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya, and Bombay to Goa. He was also a part of Bigg Boss season 3 and was voted out after more than two months. He then participated in the reality show Comedy Ka Maha Muqabala.

Raju also shook a leg with his wife Shikha Srivastava in the dance reality show Nach Baliye season 6.

Apart from comedy and acting, Raju also tried his luck in politics. He joined the Samajwadi Party for the 2014 Lok Sabha election, however, returned the ticket citing no support from the local units of the party. Later, he joined the Bhartiya Janata Party and became a part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Raju Srivastava gained consciousness after 15 days of hospitalisation on Thursday. Comedian’s personal secretary Garvit Narang confirmed the news.

Srivastava was admitted to Delhi’s AIIMS after suffering from a cardiac arrest while running on a treadmill at his gym. He was put on a ventilator and underwent angioplasty the same day. He was unconscious ever since.

Earlier today, the comedian’s brother Dipoo Srivastava quashed the reports of the comedian being taken off the ventilator and said Raju is stable and doctors are doing their best.

Last week, Sunil Pal informed that Raju’s health got critical as his brain stopped functioning. He also urged his fans to pray for him as the doctors were unable to do anything. He continued to be on ventilator support.

Popular stand-up comedian Raju Srivastava suffered a heart attack last night. The 57-year-old comedian is currently undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.

According to the reports, Raju Srivastava collapsed while running on a treadmill in a gym. His trainer said that the comedian fell unconscious and complained of severe chest pain. He was immediately rushed to the hospital by his trainer and was given CPR twice to resuscitate his heart.

Raju Srivastava’s PR Ajit Saxena in a media statement said that Raju was in Delhi for a meeting with a few political leaders. Giving a health update, Saxena said his pulse rate is back and he is in the ICU.

Comedian Sunil Pal posted a video where he revealed that the comedian is doing well now. He said his health deteriorated last night, but he is recovering rapidly and will be home soon.

Just hours before Raju suffered a heart attack, he had shared a stand-up comedy video on his Instagram account. In the video, he gave a funny spin on the information being spread on Covid-19 via caller tune on the phones. Srivastava mimicked a few veteran actors including Vinod Khanna, Shashi Kapoor, and others to demonstrate how they would have expressed such info.

On the work front, Raju got recognition by participating in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. He has also worked in films such as Bombay to Goa, Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. He also participated in TV shows such as Bigg Boss Season 3 and Dekh Bhai Dekh. The 57-year-old is the chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Film Division Board.
