Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday, December 25 has announced that there will be no night curfew in the state amid Omicron scare across the country.

While addressing the media on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said that situation of Bihar is better than other states. Therefore, there is no need for night curfew in the state.

Meanwhile, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey said that all the necessary Covid-19 precautions are being followed in the state. As per media reports, even though no night curfew will be imposed in the state, the Bihar government is likely to prepare fresh Covid-19 guidelines for its citizens.

Covid-19 situation in Bihar

Bihar is one of the ten states that comes under the Covid-19 danger zone. Districts that have been recognised as danger zone areas include Purnia, Rohtas, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Kishanganj, and Patna. As per the latest reports, no Omicron Covid-19 cases have been reported yet in Bihar. The total tally of positive cases in the state is 17, according to the state’s health minister Mangal Pandey. On Friday, Bihar reported 86 active cases of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

To curb the spread of the new variant of concern, Omicron other states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, and Assam have imposed night curfew with immediate effect from 11 pm to 5 am. In Assam, the night curfew with start at 11 pm and end at 6 am.

India on Saturday reported 122 cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. The total number of infections stands at 415, according to the Center’s data. The data also revealed that 115 people have been recovered from the infection to date.

In other news, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took a dig at the Congress party on Saturday in which he accused the opposition party of corruption and said that their leaders are greedy.
