In a first, India administered over one crore coronavirus vaccine shots in a day. This is the highest number so far. According to the data in the CoWIN portal, the total doses that were administered on August 27 were 1,02,06,475. The central government has been emphasising to boost the vaccination drive and thus it has come as an achievement for the country.

Prime minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the people because of which this vaccination drive became a huge success. In a tweet, PM Modi said that it was a record vaccination number. He further said that crossing the one crore mark is a momentous feat. He further congratulated those getting vaccinated and those making the vaccination drive a success.

Apart from this, India also witnessed another significant achievement as India’s coronavirus vaccination coverage crossed the 62 crore mark and it currently stands at 62,17,06,882, according to the report of the health ministry.

According to the latest report by the Health Ministry, 23,72,15,353 people in the age group of 18-44 years have received the first dose, while 2,45,60,807 have been fully vaccinated after the start of the third phase of the vaccination drive.

When did the third phase of the vaccination drive started in India?

The third phase of the vaccination drive in which the people in the age group 18-44 began in June this year, and since then it is the highest number of people that were inoculated.

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also came forward and congratulated the people who made this vaccination drive a huge success. He wrote on Twitter that this was possible because of the efforts due to which the country could administer one crore doses in just one day. He further said that the hard work of the health workers and PM Narendra Modi is paying off now.

How many coronavirus cases were reported in India in the last 24 hours?

On the other hand, India reported 46,759 covid cases and 509 death in the last 24 hours. The total covid tally in the country stands at 3,26,49,130.
