Former South African cricketer Dale Steyn slammed Cricket South Africa (CSA), after they congratulated Lungi Ngidi on winning the IPL with Chennai Super Kings and ignored Faf du Plessis and Imran Tahir. Along with Steyn, fans also showed their rage against such discrimination on social media.

MS Dhoni-led CSK on Friday won their 4^th title after beating KKR in IPL 2021 finals and Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, Lungi Ngidi were part of the winning squad. Hours after CSK became champions, Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Instagram, congratulated Lungi Ngidi and omitted du Plessis and Tahir form their post.

CSA wrote, ‘congratulations to lungi Ngidi on winning the IPL with Chennai Super Kings’. Few moments later, du Plessis replied to that post and criticized CSA by saying “Really?” While ace pace bowler Dale Steyn also slammed the CSA and said ‘disgusting’.

 Steyn wrote, who is running this account? Last i checked, Faf isn’t even retired and Imran isn’t retired. Both these guys have given years of service to CSA and they do not worth a mention?

However after facing backlash on all social media platforms, CSA deleted the post. This is not the first time CSA has been criticized, earlier Faf had complained that there is favouritism in CSA that whoever they like, will play for CSA.

Dale Steyn also criticized CSA on Twitter and said that Cricket South Africa has opened “a can of worms for themselves.” Steyn also advised CSA to delete the post as soon as possible and save themselves from embarrassment.

Even after having such great season in IPL 2021, du Plessis has not been included in South Africa squad for T20 World Cup. He went on to smash 633 runs in the tournament including 86 runs in the final, and was only two runs behind Ruturaj Gaikwad, to become highest scorer in the tournament.
