The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) today issued a notice to Delhi police in an 8-year-old girl murder case. Reports said that the incident happened in Delhi’s Narela area on Friday night. The minor girl was kidnapped before the murder.

DCW chief Swati Maliwal informed on Twitter that the head of an 8-year-old girl was crushed by a stone in Narela. This was the condition of Delhi, the capital of the country. The family informed them that the neighbour and his accomplice kidnapped their daughter, raped her and then killed her. They have issued a notice to Delhi Police.

Delhi police said that the accused has been arrested in this matter. He has confessed his crime. He accepted that he had a fight with the girl’s brother.

The accused confessed that he kidnapped the girl and then killed her to take revenge.

Police said that a case of kidnapping and murder has been registered on the basis of the accused confession. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

After this incident, social media users started raising questions about the law and order situations in the national capital. One user requested Delhi’s Lieutenant governor to review the law and order situation in Delhi. He wrote that nothing was happening positive in Delhi. Such incidents were a shame for them and society.

This was the second incident of rape and murder this week. On October 6, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by two boys at a government school.

The DCW took cognisance of this matter too and sent notices to the Delhi police and school administration. Swati Maliwal wrote on Twitter that at a Kendra Vidyalaya school in Delhi, an 11-year-old girl was raped by two senior boys in the school’s toilet. The girl said that the teacher asked her to keep quiet.

Swati Maliwal, the chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, criticised Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut for her statements on the country’s independence and requested the President of India to lodge an FIR against the actor.

Kangana Ranaut has recently received her Padma Shri award from President Ram Nath Kovind in New Delhi. Following the award, she gave a controversial statement about India’s independence while giving an interview. She described India’s independence in 1947 as ‘bheek’ or alms.

Swati Maliwal in a tweet said that Kangana Ranaut is one such woman who mocks the martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh and other freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for attaining India’s independence. Adding further she said Kangana needs treatment, not award!

She has also written a letter to the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind to immediately withdraw the Padma Shri honour bestowed upon Ms Ranaut and also request him to register an FIR against the actor on charges of sedition.

In a letter, she further adds that her remarks demean the movements such as Dandi March, Khilafat Movement, Quit India Movement and other such protests that led to India’s independence. Continuing to this, she said that calling independence as ‘bheek’ also degrade the sacrifice of our great freedom fighters.

Congress leaders are also demanding the withdrawal of the Padma Shri award presented to her for “insulting” the country’s independence movement.

In response to Ranaut’s statements, Congress spokeswoman Gourav Vallabh said that this is what happens when people who are not deserving of Padma awards are given these honours.

Senior Congress leader Anand Sharma also demanded to take the award back. The former Union Minister in a tweet said that the Prime Minister must break his silence and inform the people if he agrees with Ms Ranaut’s viewpoints and if he doesn’t agree then the government should take proper legal action against such people.
