Offline classes in Delhi schools up to Class 5 will resume from tomorrow, December 27, 2021. After analyzing improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI) from severe to a very poor category, for kids in Classes 6 and above, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) decided that Delhi schools reopen from December 18.

In light of the submissions received and the improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi from severe to very poor, the Commission today directed the State Governments of NCR and GNCTD to allow the re-opening of schools and educational institutions in a controlled manner, via Direction No. 50, according to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).

While announcing the reopening of physical classes in schools, of class 6 and onwards, colleges, educational institutions, skill development and training universities, other training institutes, and libraries, the CAQM added that state governments in the NCR and GNCTD have been informed to make an early decision for the reopening of physical classes in schools.

Parents in Delhi flocked to Twitter last week to urge the reopening of schools since educational institutions had been closed after the Supreme Court ordered the AAP administration to stop permitting physical lessons due to the state’s rising pollution levels.

Earlier, the children and the parents made a Twitter campaign for the resumption of classes. The Twitter campaign name was #backtoschool where many issues were highlighted by the parents due to the decision to the closure of schools. They said that it will hamper their studies and learning.
