The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain in Delhi and adjoining areas today. According to the weather department, light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Narwana, Rajaund, and Assandh (Haryana), Tundla, and Firozabad (Uttar Pradesh) during the next 2 hours.

IMD also predicted that thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of a few places in Delhi, Shamli, Kandhla, Amroha, Anupshahar, Bareilly, Bhadra, and Sidmukh during the next 2 hours.

The weather department reports that showers in Delhi will intensify starting today, and depending on how the monsoon trough moves, certain areas of the capital will experience heavy rain too.

On Thursday, Delhi’s maximum temperature is predicted to be around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be 26.7 degrees Celsius.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported that on Thursday morning, Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) was 51, which is considered to be satisfactory. On the other hand, the AQI of Gurugram and Noida was recorded at 90 and 103 respectively.  The AQI level of Gurugram was in a satisfactory category while the AQI level of Noida was in a moderate category.

The AQI is classified as good between 0 and 50, satisfactory between 51 and 100, moderate between 101 and 200, poor between 201 and 300, very poor between 301 and 400, and severe between 401 and 500.

In other news, a school in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district is grabbing headlines for asking students to make a bridge from chairs to help the teacher reach the premises. A video of the same is going viral on social media. The incident happened in a primary school in Baldev Gram Panchayat Dagheta in the Baldeo area of Mathura.
