In yet another shocking case of road rage in Delhi, two young men were arrested for allegedly beating a delivery man to death after an argument over not clearing the way for a car, police said on Sunday.

According to the police, two youth, 19-year-old Manish Kumar and his friend Lal Chand, 20, were returning from a party in a cab at around 11:30 pm on Saturday night, while the victim, identified as 39-year-old Pankaj Thakur, was standing near a shop and had parked his motorcycle on the street.

The two accused got down from the rented car and asked Thakur to leave, however, when the victim sat on his vehicle, the two men pushed him off his bike and then thrashed him, said an official.

Giving details, the official said that locals found Thakur lying unconscious in a pool of blood in an alley near Ranjeet Nagar Main Market on late Saturday night with his two-wheeler lying next to him. They rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors.

The official further said the deceased was identified with the help of the documents he was carrying and it was revealed that he worked as a shop helper and also delivered groceries on a part-time basis, adding that Thakur is survived by his wife and two kids—a son and a daughter.

Following the incident, police registered a case and during preliminary investigations, scanned nearby CCTV camera footage in which the two accused were spotted getting out of the car, getting into an argument with the victim, and viciously beating him till he collapsed on the ground.

A senior official said the cab was tracked down with the help of its registration number and led to identification of the two accused following which police launched searches and nabbed the duo on Sunday afternoon.

A case has been registered against the two men and further investigation is underway, he added.
