The Kashmir Files movie is trending all over the internet. The trailer of Vivek Agnihotri’s movie has given the audience a glimpse of the Kashmiri Pandit exodus that took place in 1990 and the sheer fear that came along with it. Initially, the movie was released with a limited screen count of around 600, and recently it saw a massive increase in the number of screens on which the movie has been screening. After watching the movie, people had mixed reactions. Some praised it, on the other hand, some said that the movie is trying to propogate hate.

Recently, videos started circulating on the internet, in which it can be seen that after watching the movie, people in the theatre were giving hate speeches against Muslims.

In one of the videos, a man can be seen saying that people should not watch movies of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan. He was further heard using abusive language against the Muslims and said that one day, these political parties like the Samajwadi Party, TMC, and Mayawati kind of people will come to our home.

In another video, group of boys were heard chanting, “desh ke gaddaro ko goli maro salo ko.” A slogan several BJP leaders were charged with shouting during the 2020 North-East Delhi riots.

In yet another video, after watching the movie, a man was seen making an appeal to the Hindus that this is time to be aware and they should stay away from all the Muslims as in future they can attack them.

Meanwhile, the film has been experiencing phenomenal growth in theatres. The Kashmir Files was released on March 11 and on the third day, it has managed to earn more than Rs 15 crore in the box office. The movie stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, and other actors in pivotal roles. The film’s narrative aims to be different from the official narrative of 1990. The filmmakers have said that the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits was due to the threat posed by Kashmiri Muslim jihadi terrorists. The V.P. Singh government with the outside support of the BJP was in power in New Delhi when these momentous events that affected lakhs of Kashmiri Pandit families took place.
