Four died and at least 30 others were injured after a speeding truck rammed into a tractor trolley on the Lucknow-Delhi highway on Thursday. The horrific accident took place in the Siddhauli area of Sitapur district, Uttar Pradesh at around 1:30 am.

People were travelling from Shahjahanpur’s Rauja area for the mundan ceremony of a child to Dewa Sharif shrine in Barabanki district.

The police officials were immediately informed about the accident. SSP South NP Singh reached the accident spot and informed the relatives of the injured about the accident.

According to the reports, the four people who died in the accident were of the same family. Out of 30 injured, four are critically injured. All of them were rushed to the trauma center of King George Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow for proper treatment.

The police officials said due to the heavy rainfall, there was low visibility, so the tractor-trolley was parked by the roadside. The truck then rammed into a tractor-trolley from behind, which caused the mishap.

The reports state that the accident happened while the tractor overturned. The tractor trolley was struck by a truck before being struck by another truck that was approaching from behind. The collision of two trucks in the trolley was so strong that passengers flew in the air and fell. This created a ruckus thereafter.

After the accident, the highway’s traffic was hampered, but it was eventually restored after a crane removed the damaged truck and tractor-trolley from the area.

The investigation is underway and the police are putting an effort to identify the deceased.
