Over the years, legendary actor Dilip Kumar has won millions of hearts with his acting skills. Today, December 11th marks the late actor’s 99th birthday.  Saira Banu, Dilip Kumar’s ladylove, has written an emotional note to ETimes ahead of his birthday.

In the letter, Saira Banu wrote that on the bitterly cold night of December 11, while a raging fire fanned by the force of freezing winds was blazing in the Qissa Khwani bazaar in Peshawar, her Jaan, Yousuf Saheb, was born to Ayesha Begum, the beautiful wife of Mohammad Sarvar Khan, who was a leading fruit merchant of Peshawar.

She further added that the fact is that Dilip Saheb was very happy and proud that he was born in an undivided India and he grew up in a large, happy family which was united by the bonds of respect for elders, cared for the younger members and women and had unflinching trust in one another.

Needless to say, Dilip Kumar has left a huge mark on the Indian film industry. Popular as Bollywood’s Tragedy King, Dilip Kumar ruled Hindi cinema for more than six decades. His notable works include Mughal-e-Azam, Aan, Devdas, Naya Daur, Ram Aur Shyam, Kohinoor, Madhumati, Babul, Azaad, and others.
