As the festival of lights is here, we certainly get a respite from the pandemic fatigue that had set after nearly nine long months of lockdown. Diwali, which is a big festival in India, drives people to plan a number of activities to make the celebration grand and memorable.From shopping to meeting relatives, people are always filled with excitement during this festival season. However, there is still a sense of fear as the coronavirus continues to spread and devastate lives. Therefore, we must take precautions and follow some safety tips to avoid the spread of Covid-19 during this Diwali celebrations.

Here are tips you should follow to have safe and enjoyable Diwali:-

Wear mask: The Diwali celebrations involve meeting and greeting relatives and friends. Hence, make sure you wear a double-layered mask for protection against the infectious virus. There are several fashionable masks available in the market, which will help accentuate your look for the auspicious day. So don’t compromise your health in order to look stylish.As a precautionary measure, you must ensure you wear a mask the entire time during the celebration.

Greet with caution: Definitely, we will miss embracing our loved ones during Diwali celebrations, but save hugs for later. Following our Indian styled-greeting ‘Namaste’ will be the best option for this Diwali. Hence fold hands and meet your closed ones so as to keep yourself safe from spreading coronavirus. 

Use sanitiser: Wash your hands with sanitisers as many times you come in contact with Diwali items or gifts. While exchanging presents, make sure you keep sanitisers handy, so that you remember to clean your hands as soon as possible. Also remember to keep it away from Diwali diyas and candles, as when put together, it could start a fire and cause an accident.

Stay indoors: Think twice before you plan to go out to celebrate Diwali .There are higher  chances of you getting contact with the person who may likely be an asymptomatic carrier and may unconsciously transfer the Covid-19 contagion to you.Even many large events and gatherings have been canceled to curb the spread. The health experts have also advised everyone to stay indoors this Diwali. If planning to meet friends and relatives, plan a virtual meet instead and stay at home.

Maintain ventilation: The coronavirus tends to hang in the air, proper ventilation will allow air to circulate through. Keep your doors and windows open as it helps keep the house fresh. Make sure your festive meets happen in large and well-ventilated space.
