A startup, GUVI which was incubated in the Indian Institute of Technology(Madras) has initiated to provide free Python and AI upskilling courses to economically weaker sections students. It has collaborated with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to provide the learning to such students.

What is the course?

It is a free one million Python Programming and Advanced course. It can be learned in various regional languages such as Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu with English as well.

How learners can enroll in the program?

The learners can enroll in this course for free. When they register themselves o the GUVI website, they will get free access to the course. They will have an option to get a certificate from IIT Madras on the GUVI Python programming course. This will be provided to them after they take an assessment and pay a nominal fee to IIT Madras.

How AICTE will work for this plan?

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is planning to distribute free edtech coupons to students. It will be provided to those whose annual family income is less than Rs 8,00,000. These coupons will be distributed through the NEAT portal and GUVI website as well.

What do officials say about this initiative?

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GUVI Arun Prakash said that their aim is to give the best employable skills to our nation’s youth with the aims of NEAT. Python Programming and AI skills is a program that will give huge support to deserving students in the country. It will help them to grow in their careers also.

The Chief Coordinating Officer of NEAT-AICTE Buddha Chandrashekhar had also recognized GUVI for its quality parameters with aims of the NEAT 3.0. It will help in giving them an outcome-based education.

Also, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had praised this start-up for their contribution as free edtech coupons as a part of NEAT 3.0.
