The Bihar court has issued an arrest warrant against the film and television producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Indian Army and insulting the soldiers in her web series XXX Season 2.

On September 28, Judge Vikas Kumar issued the warrant based on a complaint lodged by an ex-serviceman, Shambhu Kumar. A resident of Begusarai filed a complaint in 2020 against the series for using objectionable scenes related to a soldier’s wife.

Hrishkesh Pathak, the advocate of Vikas Kumar, said that the XXX series was aired on Alt Balaji, an over-the-top platform (OTT) owned by Ekta Kapoor’s TV company Balaji Telefilms. Her mother, Shobha Kapoor, is also associated with the company. The first season of the show aired in 2018, while the second season premiered in January 2020.

The series features five different stories that revolve around different aspects of sexual relationships.

Pathak said the court had summoned them (the Kapoors) and asked them to appear before it in connection with the matter. However, they (the Kapoors) informed the court that a few scenes from the show were cut after the objection. However, they failed to show up in court, and as a result, a warrant was issued for their arrest, he added.

For the benefit of those who are unaware, Twitter users called out the web series in 2020 by trending the hashtag AltBalaji Insults Army on the micro-blogging platform.  Ekta was involved in a scandal because of an episode from the second season titled Pyaar aur Plastic. During the duration of the episode, a wife of an army jawaan is shown engaging in an extramarital affair while her husband is away on duty.

XXX is a 2018 erotic comedy-drama directed by Ken Ghosh. It stars Shantanu Maheshwari, Kyra Dutt, Aparnaa Bajpai, Pryanca Talukdar, Rithvik Dhanjani, Ankit Gera, and Aparna Sharma.

Ekta Kapoor, meanwhile, is frequently referred to as the soap queen of Indian television and is likely one of the industry’s biggest producers. In addition, Ekta also bankrolls Bollywood films. Her successful television serials and films include Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Kumkum Bhagya, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Naagin, Dream Girl, and Ek Villain.
