You must have paid toll tax on roads several times but have you ever paid the tax in a jungle? A video is going viral on social media where a truck driver is paying a toll tax on a jungle road, this time not to any human but instead to an elephant. If the lion is called the king of the jungle then it wouldn’t be wrong to call an elephant, the Maharaja of the Jungle.

IFS officer Parveen Kaswan uploaded a video on Twitter showing that the elephants stop the truck carrying sugarcanes to have a feast. Kaswan captioned the video, “What will you call this tax?”

Elephants take tax on jungle road

The video is from Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, Tamil Nadu. A mother elephant and a baby elephant block the truck, passing through the middle of the forest carrying sugarcane.

In the viral video, a truck carrying a consignment of sugarcane is parked in the middle of the road when a man who is standing atop the truck throws a pile of sugarcane on the side of the road. Surprisingly, the elephant slowly moved away after collecting the sugarcane, allowing the vehicles to pass by.

Viral video

The video was shared by Kaswan on July 24 and so far it has garnered over 1.6 million views. People are loving the video. One of the users said the elephants are taking jungle tax. A woman jokingly said that gruesome recovery of tax is happening in the forest too. One said that this is a cute tax.

People who called this tax cute and are finding this video lovely, Kaswan asked people to never feed animals as they become used to easy and spicy foods. He wrote, Lovely as it may look but never feed wild animals. Sympathy-based conservation is the enemy of wildlife. They get used to easy & spicy food. As a result, they will roam around roads and outside their habitat. A good number of accidents happen this way. Let them stay wild, he added.

A similar incident happened in 2021 on Sathyamangalam – Mysore highway when a mother elephant was caught on camera blocking traffic with her little calf by her side. A mother elephant blocked the truck carrying sugarcane.
