Employee Provident Fund (EPF or PF) refers to a scheme that provides monetary benefit to all salaried individuals after they retire. Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has been working towards bringing its services online. Individuals can now transfer their provident fund or PF digitally.

How to transfer PF balance online in 6 simple steps:

Step 1: Log in at the EPFO member portal using Universal Account Number (UAN) and password.

Step 2: Go to the Online Services section and click on One Member One Account (Transfer Request)

Step 3: Fill your previous EPF account details/previous Member ID) and verify your credentials.

Step 4: To get PF account details of previous employment, click on Get Details.

Step 5: For attesting the form, you will be asked to choose from Previous Employer and Current Employer. Choose the latter.

Step 6: A one-time password (OTP) will be sent to your mobile number registered with UAN. Once you enter the OTP, submit the form.

After completing all the steps, an attestation request will be sent to the chosen recruiter. Once that gets approved, your EPF balance and account will be transferred to your new company.

Required documents

The following documents should be available at the time of EPF transfer:

Valid Identity Proof, Revised Form 13. Current employer’s details, UAN, Establishment number, Account number, Old and current PF account details and Bank account details of salary account.

What is the eligibility criteria for EPF/PF transfer?

Employees should activate their UAN on EPF portal.

Bank details should be verified by the employer.

Candidates should seed their Aadhar card in the UAN account.

Candidates should mention their Date of Joining (DoJ) and Date of Exit (DoE) on the portal. Reason for exit should also be mentioned.

EFPO will accept only one PF request against one member ID.
