In the year 2000, Abhishek Bachchan made his screen debut in the film Refugee. But Amitabh Bachchan’s son found it difficult to break into the entertainment industry prior to landing director JP Dutta’s film.

Abhishek recalled this in a recent interview, adding that no one wished to be in charge of Amitabh Bachchan’s son’s launch. Not only that, but the Ghoomer actor revealed that, prior to making his acting debut, the Bachchan family was going through a difficult period. As a result, he went to India from college in the US to be with his father.

During a recent interview, he said, for Filmfare, the actors used to arrange your outfit months in advance 20 years ago.They had to buy their own clothes back then since no one was giving them out for free. The whole industry would be there, even if they weren’t nominated, so they would make sure you weren’t shooting that night. It was a special event, he added.

He added, but then to attend that event, he use to think what to wear.  Although it may seem strange to admit today, he didn’t have a lot of clothes because they couldn’t afford to buy them. Abhishek said, they were trying to be as frugal as we could be because they were going through a difficult time.

The Dhoom actor said, he didn’t had any formal dress to wear for that event. He then thought it wouldn’t be appropriate to go there in jeans and a T-shirt. So he went and wore the sherwani that was dessigned for his sister’s wedding, Shweta Bachchan, a few years ago, the actor continued.

Abhishek said that JP Dutta’s win for Best Director for Border took place during the same awards ceremony. As the director made his way down the stage, he caught sight of Abhishek. Later, after offering Abhishek refugee status, the director requested him to meet.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Abhishek Bachchan was most recently seen in R Balki’s Ghoomer. The film saw the mixed reviews.

Taapsee Pannu is one of the actors known for speaking her mind. She recently recalled her struggling days when she was called a bad luck charm and producers were shy of signing her. In a recent interview the actor has spoken about the misogyny she faced in the early days of her career.

In an interview to Filmfare, the Thappad actress said she faced some really weird things in the beginning like she isn’t pretty enough. She had been replaced because the hero’s wife didn’t want her to be part of the film. She recalled she was dubbing for one of her films and was told that the hero didn’t like her dialogue so she should change it. When she refused to change it, they got a dubbing artist to do it behind her back. There was a time when she was told the hero’s previous film didn’t work, so you slash your price because they need to control the budget. There was some hero who wanted my introduction scene changed because he felt it would overpower his introduction scene. These are the things that have happened in front of her, she added. She said she doesn’t  know what’s happened behind her back.

On being asked about how she coped up with all that, the actress said she decided that from now on, she will only take up films that will make her genuinely happy to go to work. People advised her against it because there might be a point of no return. Whenever a girl has tried to do women-driven films there’s a tag that’s attached to her and male stars are then hesitant to take her as their leading lady. It might be a little harder, longer journey but it’s going to be one that she’s going to enjoy each day. It has worked out till now.

Bollywood stars Deepika and Ranveer are seizing the headlines these days for their fairytale wedding and fabulous reception parties. Ranveer, who hosted a second wedding reception with his wife in Mumbai, on Wednesday, has said in a new interview that he was always ready for marriage. He was just waiting for Deepika to be ready as well.

He said, “I’ve been thinking about marriage seriously for almost three years now. I was just waiting, I told her the minute you say so, we’ll do it.”

Speaking to Filmfare, Ranveer said, “I’ve been ready for a while. I was just waiting for Deepika to be ready. It would happen whenever she had decided. I was fully ready and raring to go.”

Ranveer further said, the fairytale Lake Como wedding was what Deepika wanted and it was his duty as a ‘husband of the millennium’ to make her dreams come true.

“Whatever her vision of getting married, I wanted her to realise it. Whatever she wanted, it was done exactly in that manner. She deserves every bit of it,” he said, adding that his happiness comes from hers.

He said that he was sure Deepika was the one ‘six months into the relationship’. They both had been together in a relationship for six years before their wedding. “I knew all too well that this is the woman I’m going to marry. This is the woman who would become the mother of my children,” he said.

After their wedding on November 14 and 15 in Italy, they hosted their first reception party for friends and family on November 21 in Bengaluru. There were prominent sportspersons and businesspersons in the party.

The couple hosted their second wedding reception in Mumbai yesterday. The party was grand and glitzy and people couldn’t take their eyes off as both the Man and the Wife arrived at the venue looking no less regal than a King and Queen.

They will now organise a third reception on December 1. People are waiting for the event where bollywood stars will grace the occasion and shower their blessings and good wishes to the newlywed couple.
