The Board of Control for Cricket in President and the former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly admitted to Woodland hospital in South Kolkata after complaining of chest pain on Saturday morning. The Hospital sources told the reports that Ganguly felt ill while exercising in his personal gymnasium in the early hours of Saturday morning. Soon after, he was shifted to the nearest private hospital.

Sources close to the former India skipper said that Ganguly complained of pain in the chest and might need angioplasty. The Indian sports journalist Boria Majumdar confirmed that the former India captain will be discharged on Saturday itself after getting an angioplasty done. He is now out of danger.

Majumdar had tweeted that Ganguly felt dizzy when he was in the gym and he went to Woodlands to get the Tests done. That’s when it came to light that there was a cardiac issue and the hospital has now created a 3 member board with Dr. Saroj Mondal who will perform the procedure.

Earlier this week, Ganguly had cleared the rumours about joining politics ahead of West Bengal Assembly polls next year and had clarified that he went to meet the state’s Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday to discuss various issues and agreed to visit Eden Gardens on his invitation.

Ganguly had said that if the Governor wants to meet him then how he could reject the invitation. Denying the Dada’s joining BJP rumours, the Governor had tweeted that it had a good interaction with Dada at Raj Bhawan on varied issues and accepted his offer for a visit to Eden Gardens, the oldest cricket ground in the country established in 1864.

This week on Wednesday Ganguly had visited Eden Gardens for examining the preparations for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with the Cricket Association of Bengal president Avishek Dalmiya.

Ganguly had also visited Feroj Shah Kotla stadium of New Delhi for the inauguration of the late Arun Jaitley’s statue on the 68th birth anniversary of the former finance minister and the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association chief.
