Madhya Pradesh Congress leader and former state minister Raja Pateria sparked a row over his recent remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A video of Pateria is doing rounds on the internet wherein he was heard asking people to be ready to kill PM Narendra Modi as the minorities in the country are in danger.

The Congress leader further said ‘kill Modi to protect the constitution.’ He said PM Modi will end elections and divide people based on religion. Dalits will face the biggest threat under his regime, Pateria claimed.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has now demanded action against the Congress leader and Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra ordered to file an FIR against the same. He slammed the Congress and said this is not a Mahatama Gandhi’s Congress but a Congress of Italy and a mindset of Mussolini.

Now, Raja Pateria issued a clarification and claimed to be a Gandhian. He said he is somebody who believes in Gandhian ideology and such people cannot talk about killing or violence.

He further said his remarks have been dragged out of context in the video and he meant PM Modi needs to be defeated politically and thereby protect the Constitution. He has no interest in getting the Prime Minister killed, Pateria clarified.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Praty swept Gujarat and defeated the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party in the assembly elections held in two phases in the state. The BJP broke its won record and won 156 seats in Gujarat while the Congress ended up at 17 and AAP stood at 5.

In other news, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday took a dig at the Congres in Lok Sabha and said the party is jealous of the country’s increasing economy.
