A laddoo prasad (sacred offering) from a Ganesh pandal in Hyderabad was sold for a record-breaking Rs 45 lakh on Saturday during an auction. The 12-kg laddoo was auctioned at the Marakatha Shree Lakshmi Ganapati Utsav Pandal.

The laddoo was auctioned for Rs 44,99,999 by a couple, Venkat Rao and Geethapriya. This is not only the highest bid for a laddoo in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, but across both the Telugu States (Telangana and Andhra Pradesh).

The video of the record-breaking laddoo has surfaced on the internet. The couple is seen posing with the laddoo. Venkata Rao was also seen carrying the laddoo on his head.

Laddoos created for Lord Ganesha are traditionally auctioned off as prasad, and whoever wins is said to receive God’s special blessing. It is believed that the person who wins the laddoo is said to bring them good luck, health, wealth, and prosperity.

A day earlier, the 21-kg laddoo prasad of Balapur Ganesh has auctioned off for Rs 24.60 lakh by a local farmer and realtor V Laxma Reddy.

The main Ganesh idol immersion ceremony in Hyderabad officially begins with the laddoo auction. Laxma Reddy, a member of the Samithi said the money from the auction is being used for developing temples in Balapur.

According to the reports, the first laddoo auction was done back in 1994. It was successfully bid by a local farmer, Kolan Mohan Reddy, for Rs 450.
