Nav Bharat Nirman Samiti organised Varanasi Literature Festival and Gomti Devi Memorial Ceremony in Uttar Pradesh’s Kashi. The events continued for two days from February 11 to 12 and were graced by dignitaries from across the world from multiple fields.

Supreme Court Bar Association’s Vice-President Pradeep Rai, who was the chief guest of the events, was felicitated for his contributions to the law during the event.

Addressing the Varanasi Literature Festival and Gomti Devi Memorial Ceremony, Rai highlighted the crucial role of Kashi in terms of literature.

“Kashi has been a city of literature. This land has given birth to many personalities including Bharatendu Harishchandra and Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya,” Rai said.

He further said that Kashi has given the first Indian judge of the High Court, Justice Mehboob, the son of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. Speaking about the efforts in literature in Kashi, he said it would unfair to not give credit and respect to the city deserves and more necessary steps should be taken to continue the legacy of Kashi as the city is the foundation stone of literature.

Varanasi Literature Festival and Gomti Devi Memorial Ceremony are the literary festivals organised in the state annually. The events felicitate and honour people for their excellent contributions to education, literature, art and culture, journalism, and justice. In this Gomti Devi Excellence Award is given.
