The world’s biggest search engine company Google on Wednesday announced the results for its Year in Search 2021, revealing what people searched for the most throughout the year 2021. The giant search engine company revealed the search results across categories, such as news, sports, entertainment, etc.

As per its reports, In 2021, people from India most searched for, Indian Premier League (IPL), and CoWin. This reflects how badly India was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. The overall top five searches were IPL, CoWin, ICC T20 World Cup, Euro Cup, and Tokyo Olympics.

Most searched personalities of the year 2021 on Google:

Tokyo Olympics gold medallist Neeraj Chopra topped the list of most searched personalities of 2021, thanks to his history-making performance at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan came second in this list, who came in limelight for an alleged drug case.

Most searched movies of the year 2021 on Google:

Unlike every year, this time a regional cinema was searched most on Google in India. Tamil film Jai Bhim starred Suriya, was the most searched film, followed by Hindi films Siddharth Malhotra starrer Shershaah, Salman Khan’s Radhe, and Akshay Kumar starrer Bell Bottom.

Most searched sports events in 2021 on Google:

Similar to top trends, and knowing the craze of cricket in India, IPL topped the most searched sports topic in India, followed by ICC T20 World Cup, and Euro Cup 202. These three were the most searched sporting events in India. Tokyo Olympics 2020 and Copa America came 4^th and 5^th, respectively in the most searched sports event in 2021 in India.

Apart from the Tokyo Olympics, people from India most searched for news about were Black Fungus, Afghanistan news, West Bengal elections, and cyclone Tauktae in Bengal and Odisha.
