The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has issued instructions to all the Ministries of Government of India to use the Arogya Setu App to break the chain of Covid-19 broadcasts by their employees and improve the safety of all government officials.

The Department of Personnel and Training, through its Office Memorandum, has directed all officers and employees working in the Central Government to download the Arogyasetu App on their mobile phones. Employees should check their daily status before working on the app, and only leave home when the app shows a ‘safe’ or, low risk ‘status.The application calculates the level of risk based on Bluetooth proximity with anyone who is having Covid-19. In those cases where the app sends a medium or high risk notification, the person should avoid going to work and isolate themselves for at least 14 days.

The Ministry also directed the Joint Secretary Administration to ensure that the app is being used by the employees and following the instructions of all concerned. The Ministry may also ask employees of other statutory or autonomous bodies to follow similar instructions. A report of action taken by the officials in this regard will be sent to the Joint Secretary to the Government of India.

Arogya Setu is a mobile application developed by the Government of India for the fight against Covid-19. The application is intended to promote initiatives by the Government of India and the Department of Health in which it is actively designed to reach and inform users of the application about the risks, best practices and relevant advice related to Covid-19. This app keeps a record of all Arogya Setu users.

It provides green and yellow coding to its users based on their self-evaluation. Data from those in the yellow category are uploaded to the server, and those in the green category are placed in the app.
