Bengaluru-based Indian musician Ricky Kej won his third Grammy Award on Monday for his album Divine Tides in the Best Immersive Audio Album category. The result was announced live at the 65^th Grammy awards at Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles.

The US-born Indian music composer shared the award with rock icon Stewart Copeland who collaborated with Ricky Kej on the album. The duo had earlier won an award for the best new age album category for the same album at last year’s Grammy awards.

Kej had also won a Grammy in 2015 for his album ‘Winds of Samsara.’

Stewart Copeland- the founder and drummer of the British rock group ‘The Police’- is a 5-time Grammy Award-winning American musician and composer. ‘The Police’ have sold over 75 million albums worldwide.

Ricky Kej’s ‘Divine Tides’- describe as a tribute to the natural world- is a critically acclaimed album that contains 9 songs and 8 music videos, shot around the world from the Himalayas in India to the wood in Spain.

Speaking on his victory, Kej said he was grateful for the award and dedicated his Grammy win to India.

Earlier, at the time of his nomination, Kej had said he was honored to be nominated for Divine Tides for the second year in a row and stressed that even though his music is cross-cultural, it always had strong Indian roots.

Kej had said he was “extremely proud” that Indian music has been recognized and shortlisted for the prestigious award by The Recording Academy, adding that the nomination “encourages me further and solidifies my belief to continue making music that can inspire positive social impact.”

Ricky Kej is youngest Indian, and only the fourth from the nation, to have won a prestigious Grammy Award.
