Gujarat’s assembly elections are scheduled for later this year, but the turmoil started six months ago. Hardik Patel, the Patidar movement’s leader, and Gujarat’s youth face has resigned from the Congress party. Hardik was the Gujarat Congress’ working president.

While giving an interview to a leading Hindi news portal, Hardik Patel blamed Congress President Rahul Gandhi for his resignation. He said even though Rahul Gandhi knew that he was going to resign from the party, he still couldn’t take out 5 minutes for the working president and if he had talked, then this situation would not have happened today. “One should not stay where there is no respect. We are born by our hard work, “he said.

On asking why he left Congress even though he was made the working president of the party within a year of joining Congress, he said it happened for the first time in 1985 that the Congress party got more than 60 seats. After that, I felt that if the strength of Congress and ours were one, then the fight for people’s rights could be fought comfortably by living up to the expectations of the people in the state.

He further said that he thought Rahul Gandhi would understand and help him, and that’s why he joined the Congress party under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. After joining the party, the state leadership harassed, humiliated, and saddened us. I went to campaigns in the state as well as across the country and worked for the strength of the party. A year later, I was made working president, he added.

If someone does not get a chance to fulfill the responsibility even after getting the position, then what will he do? For two and a half years, I was kept as working president, but to date, my responsibility has not been fixed. I was not given any work, he said. Hardik also said that the Congress party does not even put the photo of the working president on the posters.
