Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur made big promises to the citizens of the state on the occasion of 75th Himachal Pradesh Day. Speaking at an event in Chamba, Thakur said the families utilizing zero to 125 units of electricity will not have to pay bills and in rural areas, water bills will be waived off. Apart from this, 50 percent discount will be given to women on bus fares.

During this, Jai Ram Thakur said that by giving 125 units of free electricity to the consumer, the people of the state would get a benefit of Rs 250 crore. He also said no villagers of Gujarat will have to pay the water bills.

After the announcement of Jai Ram Thakur, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia retaliated. He said that an attempt is being made to copy the Kejriwal model out of the fear of losing the polls.

In a tweet, Sisodia said BJP has a tremendous fear of defeat from the Aam Aadmi Party! He went on to say that the Himachal Pradesh government is afraid of the AAP’s announcement that it will compete in the 2022 assembly election, so it came out with the freebies.

Please vote for the AAP, Sisodia advised Himachal Pradesh voters, urging them not to fall into the BJP’s trap. He added that the truth is if the BJP forms the government in Himachal Pradesh again, it will withdraw all such freebies as it has made electricity, bus fares, etc. expensive in other states. The BJP has never believed in the concept of providing things to people at a cheaper rate, he concluded.

On Wednesday, the BJP suffered a setback after a senior leader and two others joined AAP.

It is worth mentioning that the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh are due by the end of this year. After the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, its campaigning have intensified in Himachal Pradesh as well. The BJP fears that the Aam Aadmi Party may promise free schemes in Himachal like Punjab and Delhi. In such a situation, CM Jai Ram Thakur has already made big announcements regarding electricity and water. The elections in Himachal Pradesh will take in place in November 2022 for 68 seats.
