As the prices of petrol, diesel are climbing high as a creeper with each passing day, the Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday reached Parliament in his hydrogen-powered car Toyota Mirai by making the statement that hydrogen is the future of fuel.

Gadkari said that to become Atmanirbhar, they’ve introduced green hydrogen which is generated from water. This car is a pilot project and now the manufacturing of green hydrogen will begin in the country. Imports will be curbed and new employment opportunities will be created.

What is the price of a hydrogen car?

The price of a hydrogen car is around Rs 6.88 lakh, according to CarDekho website but the Toyota website says that it is worth $50,000 in the US which is worth Rs 37,00,000 in India. This car has a total of 4 cylinders and there is a max torque of 335Nm.

The car can cover around 600 kilometres on a full tank, which brings down the cost of travel to just Rs 2 per kilometre. It also takes around five minutes to fill the fuel tank of the vehicle.

Earlier, in January, Nitin Gadkari said that he will be seen in the car on Delhi roads so that people get encouraged to use Hydrogen fuel which will be the fuel of the future. The car if Japan’s Toyota company and hydrogen fuel is from the Faridabad based Indian oil pump.

Talking about the fuel prices, the price of petrol, diesel has skyrocketed yet again. This is the eighth hole in the last nine days. In Delhi, petrol and diesel price have been hiked by 80 paise a litre, respectively. Now, a litre of petrol in Delhi will cost Rs 01.01 as against Rs 100.21 previously, and diesel will be sold at Rs 92.27 from Rs 91.47 per litre earlier.
