After Hyundai, KFC, Pizza Hut and Domino’s came under the radar of angry Indians on social media. The reason behind this is the posts in Kasmir that were posted by their Pakistan-based franchises.

KFC, as well as Pizza Hut, are Quick Service Restaurants (QSR). Both are subsidiaries of US-based Yum Brands.

The verified Instagram account of Pizza hut in Pakistan, Pizzahutpak, shared a post that stated that they stand with Kashmir on Kashmir Solidarity.

In a similar incidence, KFC’s franchise based in Pakistan took to their social media and shared a post that supported the separatists in Kashmir. The post said that Kashmir belongs to Kashmiris.

Some posts by Domino’s from 2020 have also resurfaced. One post says that the nation is in support of beloved Kashmiris and that they may live as a sovereign nation soon. Due to this, citizens have started #Bycottdominos, and are furious.

People were furious after these posts and started a campaign online to boycott these restaurants. The outrage also affected the Indian franchises.

Following the backlash, Pizza Hut issued a statement that said that the organisation does not condone, support or agree with the contents that were circulation in social media. The statement also said that they remain steadfast in their commitment to serve all Indians with pride.

KFC India also apologised to citizens on their official Twitter handle. They deeply apologised for the post that was published on KFC social media channels outside the country. They honour and respect India and remain steadfast in their commitment to serving all Indians with pride.

Recently, Hyundai Motors also suffered the wrath of Indians due to similar posts from Pakistan. However, Hyundai Motors clarified that the automotive manufacturer has been committed to the Indian market for more than 25 years now and they stand firmly for their strong ethos of respecting nationalism. They also said that they have a zero-tolerance policy towards insensitive communication.
