A video from China’s Shanghai went viral on the internet, where the customers at an Ikea store were seen trying to flee and staff members are trying to contain them. The video of the chaotic situation has been recorded from the Xuhui district where the health authority decided to lock down the store after witnessing the Covid case there.

This comes at a time when China decided to implement the zero-Covid strategy in the country. To achieve it, the Chinese government also imposed a strict two-month lockdown in Shanghai earlier this year to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

A Twitter user, who posted the video captioned it and wrote an abnormal health code case was presented at an IKEA in Shanghai, & the entire mall was suddenly blocked. Some ppl forced their way out for fear of being sent to concentration camps, but there is actually nowhere to escape under Amazing China’s digital surveillance.

Apart from this, multiple videos from inside the store also started surfacing on Internet, where people were seen yelling and pushing each other in order to flee from the location. However, Ikea did not reveal any official statement regarding the same as of now.

Deputy director of the Shanghai Health Commission Zhao Dandan told the media that the Ikea store and affected area will be under close trace.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that China’s Shanghai is one of the cities that have reported five new variants of Covid-19. The news agency also reported on Saturday that all those five different variants are more deadly as compared to Covid-19.
