Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced Union Budget 2022-23 on Tuesday, February 1 at 11 am. In her budget speech, she laid focus on various sectors, and there were a few things that remain unchanged. This year, the income tax slabs remain unchanged. Apart from this, the focus was laid on building 25,000 km long stretch roads, and several others.

Budget 2022: Know the main highlights of this year’s Union Budget:

  1. For the first time, digital budget was presented. Earlier, the budget was presented through traditional method that was through bahi khata. Now, for the first time, it was done through tablet.
  2. There was no change in Income tax slab, and it remain unchanged.
  3. The government said that they will make 25,000 km long stretch roads.
  4. It was announced that 5 km long Ganga corridor will be made for organic farming so that farmers can benefit from that.
  5. Digital rupee will be issued using blockchain and other technologies; to be issued by RBI starting 2022-23.
  6. Use of Kisan Drones to be promoted for crop assessment, digitization of land records, spraying of insecticides and nutrients.
  7. Issuance of E-passports will be rolled out in 2022-23 to enhance convenience for citizens.
  8. Procurement of wheat in Rabi season 2021-22 and the estimated procurement of paddy in Kharif season 2021-22 will give cover 1208 lakh metric tonnes of wheat and paddy from 163 lakh farmers and Rs 2.73 lakh crores will be the direct payment of MSP value to their accounts.
  9. PM Gati Shakti, inclusive development, productivity enhancement and investment, sunrise opportunities, energy transition and climate action and financing of investments.
  10. 400 new generation Vande Bharat trains with better efficiency to be brought in during the next 3 years.
  11. Tax rate for cooperative societies reduced to 15 per cent.
