The Border Security Force (BSF), Friday, apprehended a Pakistani man along the India-Pakistan International Border in Punjab, a spokesman of the security force said.

Giving details, the spokesman said that a Pakistani intruder crossed the border on the intervening night of 9-10 March and entered the Indian side from the area of border post ‘Tirath’ in Ferozepur sector of the state.

He said the man was apprehended by BSF personnel and upon questioning revealed that he was a resident of Pakistan’s Khyber district, adding that the intruder is currently being questioned by a joint team of security and intelligence officials.

The official further said that man may later be handed over to the local police.

Earlier, on Tuesday, a Bangladeshi and a Pakistani national were similarly apprehended by the border force along this front in Punjab.

In a statement issued yesterday, the BSF said that had nabbed a Pakistani intruder along the border in Amritsar sector of Punjab on Thursday morning.

They border force said that an intruder from the Pakistan side trying to enter India on the intervening night of March 8-9 at Border Out Post in Rajatal in the Amritsar sector, was shot at by BSF personnel and subsequently arrested.

The intruder was nabbed and searched and upon questioning it was revealed that he was a Bangladeshi national, BSF said, adding that the further action will be decided after questioning is finished.

An armed Pakistani infiltrator was shot dead by the BSF in January along the India-Pakistan international border in Punjab’s Gurdaspur sector.

A BSF statement at the time said that an infiltration bid was detected near village Dariya Mansoor in Amritsar district around 8 am on January 3 and the troops subsequently recovered the body of a man, aged around 45-50 years, along with a weapon there. The area falls under BSF’s Gurdaspur sector.

The BSF had said that a pump action gun along with six yellow-colour live cartridges bearing ‘Made in Pakistan’ markings were found near the body of the Pakistani “miscreant”.

The two drone attacks that took place at the Air Force base in Jammu Airport in the early hours of Sunday, is said to be a terrorist attack. Jammu & Kashmir police chief Dilbag Singh said the attack at the IAF station in Jammu is a terror attack.

The first blast took place around 1:37 am that minorly damaged the Air Force Station’s roof while the second blast exploded in the air around 1:45 am.

An FIR has been registered under the anti-terror Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act that allows the arrest of suspects and their detention for up to six months without evidence. The National Investigation Agency has taken over the probe.

Teams from the National Bomb Data Centre, the Indian Air Force, forensic experts, and the Jammu and Kashmir police are also investigating the attack.

The police chief said another major strike was averted when a terrorist, believed to be working for the Pakistan-based outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba, was arrested with an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) that was to be used for a strike in a crowded place. However, the arrest is not linked to the airport attack, Dilbagh Singh said.

The Air India Force had confirmed the incident through their official tweeter handle, where they share some details about explosions. AIF said the explosion caused no damage to any of the equipment in the station but it has damaged the area minorly. A defense spokesperson said, all the AIF station area was sealed by security forces within minutes.

Additional Director General of Police, Mukesh Singh said the explosion was very powerful which can be heard from 1 KM, blast caused damage in the area and left two people injured.  Singh said this is probably the first drone attack on any defense establishment in the country.

Meanwhile, the India-Pakistan border is around 14 km away from the Air Force Station, earlier it has been seen that weapons and other explosive devices have been dropped as far as 12 km inside Indian territory using drones.

In other India news, Union commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said that the Indian market is big and we welcome all players to come and participate.
